My name is Emma England and I live in Chenies a small village in Buckinghamshire. I love gardening, walking my Greyhound Bridie in the beautiful local area and meeting new people. I'm a people person so I love meeting my new clients and building that next working relationship. I love encouraging other small business owners and networking together, problem solving and sharing ideas.
I have been a Physiotherapist for the past 26 years and am now using my experience working with hoarders to declutter their homes. I have always loved being organised and efficient and get such joy from seeing people reclaim their homes! It's such a transformative role being a declutterer and organiser. Instant satisfaction for both the client and me and when it lifts someone's depression brought on by their circumstances, well that's just amazing! What a privilege to be able to help someone in this way.

Hoarding behaviour
I have experience working with people who display hoarding behaviours. Over the past 26 years as a Physiotherapist I have worked with many hoarders and been able to build a trusted working relationship, set small goals and make progress with my clients. I understand their need for privacy and their need to be in control of their belongings.
As a declutterer I also have experience working with hoarders and devising an individual method that works for each client depending on the specific reasons for their hoarding. I understand the psychology behind the behaviour, the associated shame and denial. I first get to know the person, then get to work addressing the clutter. By setting small and achievable goals, encouragement, evidencing their progress to them etc.
Emma helped us on move day, unpacking and organising my kitchen. We downsized from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom flat. Then she returned after a few weeks and helped me declutter my clothes, shoes, games and bags. She took all the bits to our chosen charity shops and furniture charities. She even put up some pictures and small shelves for us. With less stuff, it really is easier to think and move around. Emma was thoughtful, patient and had lots of helpful suggestions for storage solutions. Anonymous - Hertfordshire.
Sanctuary Decluttering has truly transformed my whole flat, my mind is now clear and peaceful. I used to dread coming home, it was depressing. Emma has worked with me for half a day every week and enabled me to part with some of my belongings that had become a barrier. Emma helped upcycle and charity shop my belongings in a sensitive way, knowing my belongings were important to me. I now love my home again and it really is my Sanctuary. Mel - Buckinghamshire
Decluttering is just what we needed - been putting it off for ages. We tackled my wardrobes and then the garage which hadn't been touched for years. Now I can see where everything is and get to everything first time! Wonderful. Thank you Emma. Sandra - Harrow
