I provide a professional, personal and confidential service, supporting you to declutter and organise your home. Clutter may build up for many reasons, such as a demanding career or busy family life, depression or anxiety, ADHD, ASD or bereavement. I can help you tackle many challenges around the home with compassion, patience and understanding.
I am a registered Social Worker and specialise in working with people who live with hoarding behaviour. I am happy to work with other professionals who may be involved in your support network should you wish. I have many years experience working in Adult Safeguarding and Social Care. I am registered with Social Work England and the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) and have many years experience working with adults with disabilities, learning disabilities and difficulties, mental health needs, homelessness and substance use.
I also provide professional mentoring and supervision for Social Workers and Professional Organisers who work with people with complex mental health needs and/or hoarding behaviours. This is available in person depending on locality, or by video or telephone call. I maintain an annual DBS (police check) subscription.
I am a bereavement volunteer and trainer with Cruse Bereavement Care and also sit on their equality, diversity and inclusion panel. I am a registered trainer with APDO and former board member. I am a registered trainer with APDO and Cruse bereavement support, delivering a range of courses focussing on starting and developing your business as a professional organiser, counselling skills related specifically to bereavement support, and sessions such as understanding trauma, self care, hoarding behaviour, and specifically hoarding and bereavement.
I have featured on radio and podcast interviews, and am a regular guest speaker at hoarding support groups, and health and social care team meetings and training days.
ADHD
I work with many clients with ADHD, often diagnosed in adulthood after many years struggling with time management, focus, home organisation and unfinished projects. I work alongside you to identify your strengths and work towards achieving your priorities.
I have completed training 'ADHD for professional organisers' as well as related training courses around understanding executive dysfunction and other challenges related to ADHD, and ADHD combined with autism, chronic health conditions and challenging mental health conditions.
I can offer support both virtually (via Zoom) with more of a coaching approach, or in person (depending on location) for practical hand on support.
Hoarding behaviour
I have worked in adult social care for over 20 years, and as an independent Social Worker since 2016 - my practice has developed over the years to become specialised in the particular area of hoarding behaviour, hoarding disorder and associated mental health challenges.
I work in particularly complex situations, often as part of a virtual team of other professionals all working to support you in your own home, but also work in private practice, directly contracted by my clients if that is their preference
ASD
Many of my clients are neurodivergent and require a personalised and specific support package based on their needs and levels of tolerance for this type of support.
I understand autism through both personal and professional experience as well as extensive training and ongoing learning.
I welcome enquiries and offer a free consultation in an accessible/ your preferred format to provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and ascertain if we can work together towards positive outcomes.
I walked into my bedroom earlier and almost jumped at the space! I thought something was missing. Erm yeah the massive pile of boxes!! Thank you for the motivation as always, and for challenging me not to chuck it all in a bag when I wasn't sure what to do with it!! As before, simply brilliant.
I cannot recommend Lisa highly enough, she motivated me to tackle a huge stash of paperwork which I'd been putting off for years....Lisa got the balance just right - motivating and encouraging me.Katy
