Balance Living
United Kingdom

Hi, I’m Rachel, a Professional Organiser and owner of Balance Living, based on the Wirral Peninsula. Balance Living provides professional, personalised decluttering, organising & home management systems to busy people feeling overwhelmed with ‘stuff’ in their homes & lives.

I’m a former Occupational Therapist & Rehabilitation Case Manager with over 10 years’ experience. In those years I supported individuals, mainly with neurological conditions, to maximise function in their homes, developing systems to support their daily lives.

After becoming a mum in 2019, followed by the pandemic, I decided to change my career path and turn my knowledge and experience to professional organising. I’ve always been naturally organised and love nothing more than to organise my environment, enjoying the sense of order and calm it brings.

I’ve often supported friends & family with organising tasks, from holiday packing & wardrobe decluttering to bereavement admin & support. I enjoy creating spaces in homes with purpose, balancing the function of a room with the overall look & feel. When our home is uncluttered & organised, our daily life & mental wellbeing benefits.

In my professional life I’ve carried out many home and daily living assessments - I’ve pretty much seen it all when it comes to homes. I always strive to deliver a professional, non-judgmental service which is personalised to you and your unique goals and needs.

Creating clear and efficient systems for daily living tasks reduces mental effort, stress & fatigue. Whilst this approach is particularly beneficial for neurodiverse individuals, it has benefits to us all. Taking the effort and thought out of day to day tasks, and setting up our home environments for success, results in increased function, efficiency and a clearer mind.

My approach to professional organising is with empathy & efficiency. I ensure you feel in control of the process, working with you at your pace. With a professional background in health & social care, I am particularly aware of the importance of privacy, dignity & confidentiality. I am registered with the ICO, am enhanced DBS checked, insured & adhere to the APDO Code of Ethics.

I believe that each area in your home should help, not hinder your daily life. I can help you to create a home that supports your daily life & wellbeing, free from clutter with clear systems in place for managing day to day tasks.

Specialisms

Personal/family productivity

My speciality is function! After decluttering & organising, home management systems are needed to maintain an organised home and to keep clutter at bay. Systems for even the 'smallest' of areas such as kid's artwork (how quickly does that build up?!?) make such a big impact on day to day home management and mental load.

I am able to work with you to create systems for effective & efficient home management in all areas of your home and daily life such as; laundry, meal planning & prep, cleaning schedules, family schedules, diary/event management, bill & paperwork management, schedules for car/appliance maintenance etc.

ADHD

My previous experience as an Occupational Therapist within brain injury rehabilitation offers an understanding of cognition which supports all individuals within the decluttering & organising process, but which is particularly important for neurodiverse individuals.

I have supported many neurodiverse individuals to maximise function in their homes and to develop systems to support their daily lives. A large part of my previous role was to support individuals with neurodiversity to understand their own condition, their specific experience of this and what helps.

I have also delivered training on cognition, and in particular, executive functioning, to health, social care & education professionals to increase their understanding and ability to support neurodiverse individuals.

I particularly enjoy supporting individuals to maximise their cognitive potential - adapting their environment to reduce distractions and increase function. Creating clear and efficient systems for daily living tasks reduces mental effort, stress & fatigue.

Whilst this is particularly beneficial for neurodiverse individuals, it has benefits to us all. Taking the effort and thought out of day to day tasks, and setting up our home environments for success, results in increased function, efficiency, and a clearer mind.

Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your specific needs.
