Explore some of the complex situations we sometimes work in and learn how to approach these with a sense of the person at the centre and in collaboration with other professionals
This course is aimed at people who:
- Want to understand and work with other supportive networks to best serve their clients
- Have a reasonable level of experience and confidence working directly with people in their own homes
- Have worked with a range of clients with different needs and expectations
- Would like to learn more about this area of work and whether it’s a route they would like to explore
- Are already working with or are considering working alongside people who may be experiencing the following:
- Full homes
- Hoarding behaviour
- Complex health needs
- Complex situational factors
- Safeguarding enquiries
- Fire risk
- Difficulty accessing support
The key topics covered include:
- Identifing and understanding ways of working collaboratively and how it can benefit your clients and your business
- Identifing some of the people who might be in your network and ways to build helpful connections
- Ways to describe your services and their benefits to professionals and your client’s own network
- Elements of admin and record keeping, including legislation, ways to charge and effective boundaries
- Discussion of case studies and examples
- Acknowledging the professional and personal benefits of working in complex situations as part of a wider team
This course is facilitated by an experienced member and trainer from the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO), is open to APDO members and non-members and is held virtually over one four hour session. It is an interactive, small group event with a maximum of 10 participants. We use discussion, small break out room exercises, presentation slides, Q&A and personal reflection to give you the opportunity to explore some of the complex situations that we sometimes work in and how to approach these with a sense of the person at the centre and in collaboration with other professionals.
